In 1890-1908, two impressive neo-Gothic wings arose at Grotestraat and Kattestraat thanks to a donation from Gustaaf Verhaeghe. On the facade on Kattestraat, this wings original function is immediately clear. Above the entrances, you can see the inscriptions 'Weezenhuis voor Meisjes' (Orphanage for Girls), Huis voor oude vrouwen (Old Ladies Home) and Weezenhuis voor jongens (Orphanage for Boys).
The building, whose neo-Gothic façade in Grotestraat was completely restored in 2013, currently serves as an art academy.
